Flipping And Pitching Techniques Explained

Casting techniques known as flipping and pitching are used to place a lure or live bait accurately to a small target. The target could be a small opening in surface vegetation or a hard to reach spot with obstructions nearby.

Both techniques allow a quiet presentation where the bait travels low over the surfacer of the water to reach its target. Use this technique anytime around docks, vegetation, exposed branches or other types of cover that is difficult to cast to.

Flipping is limited to targets that are in close range. Pitching works better on targets that are a little further away. Both casting techniques are used to cast at targets up to about 30 feet away.
